Spring cleaning is not just for the junk around your house, spring cleaning should include you too! So get rid of your winter gloom and get a fresh face for this Spring with this awesome (might I add economical and all natural) Mung Bean and Yoghurt facial mask recipe.

Mung beans also known as “green beans” is a staple in Asian cuisine, it is used in many dishes ranging from savoury to sweet dessert soups in Chinese cuisine for its delicious flavour and beneficial detoxifying properties. Mung beans is rich in protein that provides supple moisture to the skin, because Mung beans are so fully loaded with almost every nutrient possible, research has shown that Mung beans provides better skin pigmentation and freckle remedy than Vitamin E and C! When applied to your skin or ingested through soups, the “cooling” and detoxifying properties of mung beans helps clear acne.
Many of you might already know, yoghurt is not only for eating. The lactic acid in yoghurt helps soothe your skin and refine pores, whilst the rich beneficial bacterial culture banishes germs and other bacteria in the skin to prevent sebum production and blemishes. Therefore, when you combine the detoxifying properties of mung bean and skin refining benefits of yoghurt, you can only imagine how wonderful the result is!
Recipe:
2 Tablespoons of mung bean powder with shell (The full beans can be found at your local grocery store. When you get home just give them a little spin in the blender to grind them into a fine powder form. In Asia, green bean powder can be found at your local beauty stores, but unfortunately Sephora hasn’t caught on with the magic on these beans yet!)
2 Tablespoons of plain yoghurt
All you have to do is grind the beans, scoop in the yoghurt and mix the two into a green gloopy paste and apply to your face for 5 minutes, then voila! Your face will be fresh, glowing, clean and as smooth as a baby’s bottom!
If you have sensitive skin, I would recommend you to do a spot test on your forearm first, but generally the ingredients are too natural to do much harm!
Give this easy, no mess, and economical face mask a try!
